Professional Experience in International Commercial Arbitration (Experience as Chairman / Sole Arbitrator / Co-Arbitrator / Party Representative)
Jessica Zhao has been working for China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC) Beijing Headquarter and Shanghai Sub-Commission over ten years until she joined DLA Piper Shanghai Office. Jessica was the Deputy Secretary General of CIETAC Shanghai Sub-Commission. In 2004, Jessica was qualified as PRC arbitrator under the PRC Arbitration Law with over eight years of experience in arbitration and was listed as arbitrator of CIETAC. In the same year, Jessica was admitted as a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb). During the period of working for CIETAC, Jessica has been involved in resolving around 300 international or domestic commercial disputes, either acting as the case manager or as the Sole / Co / Chair arbitrator. In DLA Piper, Jessica advised the clients on CIETAC and other institutional arbitration cases. Jessica has the experience of using multiple international arbitration rules to resolve disputes, such as UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules, ICC Arbitration Rules, Stockholm Arbitration Rules, GAFTA Rules, etc..

Due to the work experience in CIETAC and DLA Piper Shanghai, Jessica has sufficient experience in resolving China-related international disputes. Most of the cases Jessica has handled were related to a Chinese party or the disputes took place in China or the contracts were governed by the PRC Law.
